I spent way too much on a safe that weighs WAY too much. After moving it four times, each with incident, I decided a lighter safe bolted to the wall and floor would be just as an effective deterrent. The size is dependent on the number of firearms you would like to cumulatively own someday. A Sargent and Greenleaf dial, multiple locking bolts and protected hinges are minimum requirements for me. Fireproof rating is optional- mine is supposed to be good for 30 minutes at 1200 degrees but not having to fight with the insurance company post fire could be advantageous unless you have something sentimental or irreplaceable.

Long story short, I would buy a bigger safe than what you think you need, don't scrimp on quality and one that is light enough that moving it is still feasible.

In the legend of King Arthur, the Fisher King was a renowned angler whose errant ways caused him to be struck dumb in the presence of the sacred chalice. I am no great fisherman, and a steelhead is not the covenant of Christ, but with each of these fish I am rendered speechless.
