With the intention of sharing a different perspective, and not pissing in Dave's punch bowl, I've made several dozen dives with wolf eels in the San Juans and Vancouver Island over the past 30 years or so. They exhibit traits similar to a dog in that they like to be gently petted, scratched, fed treats, and will follow along with you before and after such exchanges. There is an internationally known male/female pair on Hunt Rock, out of Port Hardy, that will leave their den to greet you on your descent. I have some old Kodachrome slides I shot of "Hunter" and Huntress" wrapped around a bud as he held his reg in one hand and gave Huntress a big kiss on the cheek with his other hand on her opposite cheek.

Pretty amazing to have such a big set of jaws resting on your bare palm whilst you slowly scratch with your finger tips, and they respond by shifting position to get *that* spot. If they had hind legs like man's best friend, one would be scratching right along with you....

'Course, I like pitbulls too.... wink
