Cool vid. I've caught small GTs but nothing over 10 lbs yet...but even 5 and 6 pounders are ridiculously strong. That video looks like it was shot in the Seychelles. THey catch 100 pounders+ in Hawaii but nearly always on a slide bait rig with a bell on the rod while plunking.

We lived on Big Island beaches through the Winter and Spring of my 6th grade year, and caught a few as kids on (what felt like) Tuna rods on the South side of Mahukona park. The local kids would chum them in with a bread and dried shrimp (I think?) concoction, then just put a chunk of squid,snail, or whatever on and cast it into the frenzy. We hooked a few of the huge darker fish, but never got anything to hand but smaller stuff, which still required two kids on the rod and at least one more shouting directions.

I sure would love to have another experience like that, though with a fly rod the next time around.
