lots of good advice above. i like a line counter reel so i can put my gear "in the zone" if i spot something on the fish finder. i use an older 8'0 shimano heavy action back bouncing rod.

i've been putting a swivel on the bottom split ring of my jigs, and crimping a siwash to that. keeps the fish from twisting the hook out.
