In April my wife and I went to So. Texas for some birding and photo ops. Down there, at least around the Lower Rio Grande, the State Parks are destination spots for nature.

Like here, they're hurting financially. Their pass is $70 per card, which gives unlimted access to a vehicle and contents. A second card costs $85, which I guess means that you can bring in two full vehicles. The one-day cost was about $5 per person.

While steep, their parks have boat launching, fishing, and a lot of organized activities. They have a lot of volunteers working in the parks, too.

Seems expensive, but had we been staying another week it would have been a good idea to get the pass.
