I have set down a rod with a coho throbbing on one end to pick up my shotgun and blast (at) a mallard. Last year I was throwing spinners in September, and used my electric motor to sneak up on and shoot a bear (with a camera phone).

There are 3 pretty big coastal bays/estuaries where cast and blasts are imminently possible (Grays Harbor, Willipa, and Columbia).

Creativity and local knowledge go a long way.
