If it's just about the economy, then why are they spending so much time talking about Akins and abortion? Are they stupid? Do they think it's more important than the economy?

No...but every time the Republicans step on their dick, they have to come back and explain themselves, and lose another opportunity to focus on the single issue that they can get traction in.
