Your sarcasm does not make the case for their grand standing. Liberals often go along with these ideas. It keep them out of trouble and they can always come back later for special tax breaks. If they are serious about paying off the debt, they can write checks to the Treasury. When they come out and attack spending, you know they are serious. Steven Spielberg got a govt grant years ago for a holocaust museum, after he made Schindlers list. Its not hard to find people on that list that have benefitted from one administration or another. Jeffrey Immelt, from GE is a prime example. Mr. Windmill.
Bill Ackman from Pershing Square personally benefitted by shorting Citibank and a number of other stocks, that drove the price of those stocks into the ground. He is a hedge fund manager.
Remember that, the next time you want to complain about Mitt and Bain Capital.
I see the list of names, but I do not see a plan. Definitely a lot of very smart people on that list. Simpson Bowles are the founders of the group. Obama would not touch their plan. In fact their own group did not come up with a plan that was broadly supported.
Its a start and maybe Romney will be able to seize the initiative to get something done and do so while protecting republicans from Democrats, who came after George Bush, for raising taxes, to accomplish much the same goal. That is one of the reasons why, no republican will support tax increases. Democrats will come back and tell you what rotten people republicans were for raising taxes. Its totally dishonest.
