Ollie apparently didn't study an important part of his history lesson. We aren't at war with Afghanistan and really not waging a war there at all. There are but two reasons for the US presence in Afghanistan: the capture or kill Osama bin Laden (check) and capture or kill Mohammed Omar (still working on that) for giving bin Laden sanctuary. We're not there to fight all the Taliban, or those who have subsequently joined the Taliban due to our extended presence there.

It would have been more useful if Ollie had reported on what "success" in Afghanistan looks like in his opinion so that we could compare that to the legitimate US mission.
