At the risk of starting a thread that will easily degenerate into name-calling from both sides, how about we get an amendment to the Constitution that would elect the President for one six year term?

Right now, a two-termer will spend the last two of their first term running for a second. So, we only get six years of their undivided attention. If they can't be re-elected perhaps they would lead for the country and not votes.

It would also make the candidates talk about what they would do, perhaps get a better debate.

It would also mean that one party can'y simply work to prevent re-election as a goal.
