Bob would have been 68 today. Some of my favorite tunes of Bob Marley are from his ska days when the group was called the Wailing Wailers with Junior Braithewaite & Beverly Kelso in addition to Peter and Bunny. Bob was about 16 when he first recorded in 1962.
I was walking down the street in B'ham in 1975 & thru the open door of a music store, I heard 'Kinky Reggae' from the "Catch a Fire" LP. I went in & bought it & it's still one of my favorite lps of all time. It's more of the original Wailer line up & was the first reggae lp by the same group rather than a complilation of tunes by various artisits. Reggae was & is primarily a singles driven musical genre'.
Reggae music is now heard world wide due in no small part to Bob and The Wailers.
