In the Northwest(where the salmon in the Great Lakes were broodstocked from) it depends on what season you are talking about. Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter Kings many rivers get kings all year. Summer/Winter&Native Steelhead. Summer/Fall Coho. Odd number year Pinks/Humpies. Summer Sockeye, Fall Chum. Dollies year round. Many of our rivers have holes that can hold large numbers of salmon 100+. Size?? possibility of hooking a 35lb king is great 40 very good as well and the odds of a 50-it can be done-not so much for the average joe. There are definately some 60-70lb kings that lurk our waters too! Average daily hook up during peak depends on species-but an example with say humpies or chummies-there are times you can say "this cast I will try not to hook one." Alaska-thats a whole different ballgame. Fish on!
