Not me, I tell them the same thing I'd say to someone who would say "lets go blow up a church" or "lets go shoot a bunch of kids at a daycare" or "lets go rob a bank" or "lets crash the stock market." I'd tell them to GFY, you POS. I have zero respect for the Federal Government and it's supporters, especially those supporters who go around with guns ready to kill on it's behalf. Because if it weren't for that tiny percentage of the population, the government wouldn't be able to do the monstrous things that it does. Don't give me any BS about protecting our freedoms, there isn't anyone out there who is a legitimate threat who can't be dealt with by our society (ie, we don't need a huge army to protect us, if invaded, the general population, or society, is armed and will resist). In fact the only legitimate threats to our society and freedom I see come from within the federal government itself. The only way this country will ever fall to a foreign army is if the government is allowed to weaken society to the point where it is no longer capable of meaningful resistance, for example through gun control or bankrupting the people.

My WHOLE point was that if your willing to put people in extreme danger then you should be first in line.

While I don't agree with the extensive nature of our military duties I think your view is very simplistic in that we are vulnerable to more sophisticated threats and our way of life could be put into jeopardy.
Relying on a bunch of untrained civilians to defend our country from a concerted effort of a hostile foreign country would be catastrophic.

Cutting the waste and some of the extreme toys these generals get to play with would help bring some of this excess under control along with getting our allies to pony up for defending their local areas wouldn't hurt either.

I think name-calling is the right way to handle this one/Dan S
