ARGH! That's painful.
I loved football. Got hurt a couple of times. Saw a couple of teammates knocked out for the season with injuries, broken collar bone, back twisted, a couple of dislocated joints, etc.

It's a tough sport for sure, but wouldn't want someone killed or knocked stupid, either.

Like I said, painful choices.
