Another thing Barkoff, you're very focused on the center pin aspect of your fishing. Don't work so much about that. You should realize that you can use just about any type of rod and reel to fish a multitude of styles and techniques. There are people that tuna fish with Barbie rods. There are guys who troll for salmon using fly rods and reels. There are people who accidentally catch lings and halibut with salmon trolling gear. Etc, etc.

The examples are endless! If your interested in in float fishing, study that and not so much what you're using in terms of rod and reel. Will certain rod and reel combos make things easier? Sure! But don't get so focused on it!
