If Syria were to attack Israel, they would find themselves in a two front war, and it wouldn't end well for them. FSA would certainly take advantage of that. Iran has no direct route to Syria, except by sea as an "end around" Saudi Arabia, so their forces would likely just end up at the bottom of the Red Sea.

I would venture a guess that we would throw our hat into the ring as well if things got going, but primarily using our air or sea assets, and minimal ground troops. Maybe some SF guys, but that's about it.
