A few weeks ago, my wife and daughter let me know that they were having to reset the modem several times a day, and that it was time to upgrade to the new modem/router combos that are now available. So I unhook my modem and head down to Auburn to switch it out. After a 20 minute wait in line, I switch my modem for an Arris modem/router combo. I go home and hook it up and everything seems great. That is until a couple hours later when my XBox Live game disconnects and won't reconnect. I call up XBox.com/support guy and he says..."let me guess, you've got an Arris modem " and proceeds to name the exact model I've got in my hand..He then goes on to explain that that's the only modem in the world that doesn't work well with the XBox Live system. So a couple days later, I unhook my Arris modem/router and go down to Auburn to switch it out for a SMC or Motorola brand modem/router....Sorry.. we don't have any in stock. Well there goes 18 bucks in gas money and two hours of my life that I'll never get back. "Try back later, we should get more soon" he says. The next day I call the phone number listed for the Auburn service center and I get some customer service guy in Lynnwood. I explain that I'm calling to make sure they have a non-Arris modem combo in stock before I burn another $18/2 hours..... He says that they have no phone number for the Auburn Service center, but he can see that they have at least 30 modem/router combos in stock. He can not, however, see what brand they are.... wow. So, I figure that they've got to have at least one non-Arris model, right? $18 and 2 hours later the answer was "NO"..... So I decide to skip the blind waste of time and money, and schedule a Comcast service van to come to my house. I tell the guy making the appointment "please put in the service notes to make sure to bring a NON-ARRIS modem/router. He assures me that he's done that, and schedules me a 4-6 PM appointment on Monday. Monday rolls around and the guy shows up to replace my modem. "You have a non-Arris model, right?, I ask. "I don't know, I'll check" he responds....OMG....Yeah, you guessed it, he has six modems in the truck and they all say Arris on 'em...... Sooooo, I have a 20 minute discussion with him about my frustrations and how I now apparently have to schedule an appointment, have the serviceman check his inventory and call me to cancel if he doesn't have the part that I need. Absolutely ridiculous, but whatever. Soooo I schedule another appointment for Wednesday between 4-6 PM. I leave work early to get home before 4, and wait for two hours....no Comcast van. I do, however, find a note stuck on my door that says that I missed my appointment that was set for 3-5 PM.....OMG... Sooooo I schedule another appointment for today at, you guessed it, 4-6 PM. Again I leave work early and arrive around 3:30. I decide to paint the railing on my front porch so I can't miss him. Well two and a half hours later my railing looks awesome but it's after 6 PM and the Comcast van never showed up...... Sooooo I call customer service and after a brief 20 minute wait I get to talk to a customer service person that informs me that the service was completed today between 4 and 6 PM, and I'd been charged $ 79 for the service call.....Now I'm getting pissed! Soooo, I've scheduled another appointment for Thursday from 4-6 PM.... I'll let you know how it goes....

I am definitely interested in getting a different provider for my TV and Internet services. Any suggestions?
