Been doing that for 30 years including Dick Nite hooks and spinners/spoons and the hooks work just fine with very few coming un-buttoned!

I tried that a few seasons ago and wasn't happy with it. Seemed like I was opening the hook a bit almost like it was partially straightened before the fish even bit. Perhaps if the point is also brought closer to the shank it would work better. After the 3rd or 4th consecutive miss/quick shake-off I bent them all back! Maybe someone knows a better way than how I did it.

BTW, I'm eating treble-caught summer run tonight. # 4 Pentac spinner, #4 Gami treble, Lami 6-10, 7 jumps, 32 inches of chrome! smile
