The Hump is pretty much floatable most of the year. I rarely do drifts on it during the summer months, but quite a bit during the fall/winter months. The real problem with the Hump is navigating trees/stumps in the river. My Dad and I joke that Humptulips in Indian means (river with many trees in it) If you're good on the oars and keep your eyes moving ahead of you you should have no problems floating it. And to the original question, the shoot is a piece of cake. There are a few state launches and an unimproved one on the back road from the Hatchery to Copalis Crossing. Good luck.
