The tiger rods are a great value and they take a hell of a beating. I am a big fan of buying utilitarian boat gear and taking care of it. A rod for under a hundred dollars can last many many years . Reels are a different deal. None of that gear is mine it all belongs to my buddy Cap'n Fred. However I do plan on picking up a shimano trinidad 20 for pitching fishtraps to albies this year along with a new seeker or a calstar. For steelhead I am willing to shell out whatever coin I have on good quality equipment,which for me lately is leaning towards Diawa/Rainshadow rods and reels.
