idono,

my all-time, favorite steelhead rod is G. Loomis' 91/2 ft. 1141 rated 8-4 lb. test. With few exceptions, it is the only rod I use drift fishing for steelhead year around when the water is moderate-low-extremely low.

Though it has a slow action, this would be considered on the short end of noodle rods as far as length goes. Loomis only offers it in a spinning model now which is a damn shame so I just order the blank and build mine as a casting rod.

Where am I going with all this? Years ago, when G. Loomis still had their original factory up the lewis river, I stopped in one day to exchange a blank and had a chance to talk to Gary himself(he was open and friendly;I've never forgotten that!) He said the 1141 is, in fact, their 91/2 foot 7 weight fly rod blank.

Just some thoughts!
