If you get a chance, check out our Lahontan Cutthroat trout episode on the Fisherman's Heaven TV show next week. We fished Omak Lake with Dan Beardsley, current Washington State record holder for Lahontans and he has that lake dialed in.
We caught fish all day long including a huge 10-pounder. At one time, Dan held the state record with a 14-pounder until he broke his own record with an 18-pounder a few years ago. The day we fished, it was sunny and calm and we were the only boat on the lake the whole time.
The down side is that it's a long drive for most Washington residents and you need a fishing permit from the Colville Tribe, but it's pretty cheap.
Like Lake Lenore, it's a hit-or-miss fishery, but if you hit it after the lake "turns over," you're going to be catching fish all day long.
