This is Tye’s third season hunting and he's really coming on strong. We have harvested six pheasants in three trips to the local release site. He is excellent at finding them and is relentless in tracking down cripples. He is not steady to wing and shot but would learn if I took the time to train him.

Today I hit a rooster on my third shot. I could see it was wounded, but not badly. Tye took out after it and with nose to ground searched long and hard with no luck. Then i could see he was on the scent. He took off in a run and chased the rooster at least 75 yards before pouncing on it and proudly bringing it back.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone photos.

In two weeks we head to South Dakota for what i hope will be the pheasant hunt of a lifetime. I am confident Tye will do well.
