I'm currently float fishing with a 9 footer with no problems, but would like a little extra length at times. I'm sure you'll here the same thing from others. I have been looking at a 10'6" that I hope to pick up as soon as my tax return gets here. I think the extra legth will make fishing these much easier. I'll let you know how it works when I get it.
