I was on the same river yesterday and believe me these types people are there on weekdays too. I haven't fished this river for quite a while but we couldn't believe the fishing etiquette or lack thereof. I fish often enough and know that these people are on every river but it seems that Nooch gets more than there fair share of them. I guess if you fish this river you either need to bring alot of patience or be ready to discuss with every other boater that when you drift by someone you should : drift behind them - not through the hole AND IF YOU DO FLOAT THOUGH THE HOLE how about reeling up your line instead of drift fishing thru it. I had 3 or 4 boats do that yesterday. They had lots of room to go behind but they opted to go thru AND fish while doing so.
I fish from the bank myself from time to time and always give the bankies room. You have alot more river to work with while in a boat. These people either are new to fishing and don't know any better or just don't give a #!%&. Maybe the answer is... it is our society nowaday .... the problem comes from what we do to relax & unwind from the tensions of today... go fishing .... then you get there before dawn and your 4th in line to go down with 6 behind you and 5 of these people are listed above. I don't really have an ending or answer but when I go fishing I assume I'll run into a fisherman or two that think they own the river and make sure they don't ruin my day. on the water. If you let that happen ... well I guess that's why there's that other post topic about "Guns on the Hoh".
