another trick that really works.....
when fishing multiple rods (trolling herring) rig all of them the same EXCEPT ONE. Rig this last one backwards. For example, cut four of five normal (right handed), rig the fifth backwards (left-handed). The "odd-ball" will spin the opposite way, and will, on average, catch the majority of the fish. My dad and I did this for years at Westport (I'm left handed, he's right), and its amazing. I've been told its works so well because the fish will seek the odd-ball out of the group, thinking it is easier picking.
