Just spoke with my guide friend. So matzuo changed the tempering process of their hooks and sized down there "1/0". We just ran out of hooks this year and compared to the old hook the new one looks small and weak. They are NOT produced in china anymore. He spoke with the guy who designs the hook. After he got his 8k hook sin he was like "WTF" as he compared them. The design guy says that the hook is 3 times stronger than the previous model. I poured them and used them. definitely a superior hook.

as far as size. honestly unless your fishing for kings. a 2/0 is as big as you wanna go. I actually pour the same hook on my twitching jigs as my steelhead jigs and I see no difference in my hook up/ lost ratio in the last three months nor in my steelhead lost/hooked ratio. Unless your continually fishing low clear water for steelies.

it just sucks having 2 or 3 different size hooks for different things. Maybe im just lazy..yeah...im lazy. But it works.
