Maybe those Oregon Chinook are more aggressive taking the hook than what I experienced on the Vedder River in B.C. while fishing with our local hero Mr. Vedder, ( one of his ancestors the river was named after) and B.C. hot shot fisherman Clint Derlago. We fished a slot where the Chinook just bobbled the float a bit and I didn't know to to set the hook. I was used to seeing the float go under. I scored 0 while the C&R team of of Vedder and Derlago released 10 as we took turns.

I did have one jerk my float under on the first cast at daylight further up the river, then stream a 100 yards down stream then broke me off.

I do recognize that both are far better fishermen than I am, but it was still an exciting day on the river.
