Andy, I've spent alot of time on some great S.E. streams and rivers though predomanantly fly fishing I have also done well with steelhead type gear on rainbows, most of the time was in low, clear conditions and with either black or purple corkies and similar colored yarns, I have tried aeroflies (to big) with very little success and some small rags, the rags had some decent days but they seemed to be outfished by my old stand-by, purple corky with black or purple yarn. A little info on the fish I caught, ranged in size from 8-26 inches (avg. 13-14) generally very agressive, and most of the rivers-streams were small, nothing bigger then the Kalama, most half that size, good luck, hope this helps
