My take on it is this. Slinkies are too easy and cheap to make at home, but rags actually take some time and effort. Kind of like trying to paint your own cork balls for Corkies. Sure you can make custom colors cheap, but who wants the headache. If your rags and jigs sell well, maybe you should devote your time to them and put your efforts into opening new markets for your existing tackle line? Hard saying without knowing how much spare time you have.
