If the waters down stick to your floater with a long leader/indicator setup and fish it just like you'd nymph any other steam. I LOVE this technique this time of year. You're dead on with the dark/bright scenario. Just make sure you use weighted bugs with LOTS of movement. I'm no purist, rubber legs, small spinner blades, even a propeller blade and bead on my line gets thrown on at times. The more movement the merrier. Usually I stick to marabou patterns, only going smaller with the lower flows. Hard to beat purple and black anytime. I'm mainly a Queets fan and don't fish much above the Hoh. But, I've had good success with this method on all the peninsula rivers I've fished. Take a few heavy heads to loop on the end of your floater if the conditions warrant. Have Fun!
