The tag senses pressure changes, which normally indicates water depth. But if the tag is indigested, it will experience the pressures associated with moving thru the orca's digestive system. There are two problems with your theory:

Ocra body temperatures are 97°-100°.

PSI at 1,900 feet (580m) is over 800.

Without doing any research, I would think it's unlikely that the digestive tract of an orca, or any large mammal, is 800 psi.

I'm guessing equipment failure.
