A few year back, I was fishing at Hoodsport, along with about a gazillion other people during the highth of the the chum run. A guy next to me was using a pretty light spinning rod. He hooked up and the chum broke that rod in three pieces faster than you can say "fish on." After a moment of reation time, we saw that the fish was still on the end of the line. He asked me to hold on to the handle, he grabbed the middle piece, and another guy grabbed the end piece. After a little bit of flogging the dog , we were able to pump and reel in a coordinated fashion and finally landed the fish.
