I hear you but from daily observation in my AO, the really big boys are pretty much nocturnal. Whilst tracking snow is a late hunt trump card, only dropping apples and pears, and the rut, will combine to reliably grant the opportunity to see 'em being Cupid stupid. I glimpsed the buck above bedded next to a doe later in the day when I was on the tractor, cleaning up after the storm. They were both chewing their cud beneath an apple tree, surrounded by a couple dozen fallen apples. He didn't stick around.
