I shoot a .30-06 and the gps put my shot at about 275 yards.

My buddy shoots a .300 Win Mag and I'd say he was at about 80 yards.

Most folks would say a .300 or .338 should be the go to caliber for moose and will work just fine for bear should the man in the brown suit show up.

The best caliber for moose is endlessly debated are you might imagine. Shot placement is by far the most important thing. My moose tipped over after one shot in about three steps with two blown up lungs.

My buddies took three rounds before it hit the ground. I think it was a dead moose walking but due to the late hour of the day, he wanted to make sure it wasn't going far.
