I'm trying to find the best way to cure some primo herring I jigged yesterday!

I THOUGHT I'd seen some
info about using bluing to toughen them and to retain their color on this board, but I can't seem to find out where!

Anyone have a favorite way to cure them so they won't turn to mush if frozen? I'd really rather not have to freeze them, and as I remember, the bit on the bluing makes 'em last for a couple weeks in the frig!
