I first heard about this yesterday afternoon but there was no confirmation anywhere...still not "confirmed", but being widely reported now.

Yes, it is a good move...but Marshawn being who he is, I wouldn't be surprised to see him win an MVP trophy today and his acceptance speech would be something like "Thanks to all my teammates, I retire!" and then walk away.
