"Wiping" is in quotes because it is a nontechnical term, computer experts like myself generally use the more technical term of "delete fukking everything" or DFE for short. Wiping is what you do to your ass. Anyway, with full disk encryption you don't need to erase/wipe/DFE on your hard drive, you just forget/lose your encryption key. "I can't recall my password" or even better "My hardware encryption key device broke/was lost/stolen/ect. when you seized my server" sounds much better than "I erased all the files with a military grade forensic file shredder."
