Wholesale energy prices have been at record levels the past month or two. Projects that are normally generating at very low levels this time of year are cranking out the megawatts like crazy. Ka-ching! Nothing like the sound of money when it comes time for the power manager's next performance review. Isn't energy de-regulation neat? Power companies have been crying that the increased competitiveness of de-regulation causes them to not be able to afford fish protection measures. The next thing you know, the wholesale price climbs by a factor of 40 (!) and they make more in a month than they did all of last year.

Now why does this make me cynical?

Sincerely,

Salmo g.
