So last night I get a call from my second daughter (RodHog) from Anchorage....

"Dad... I'm going flossing for reds on the Kenai tomorrow and I'm at the tackle shop. What do I need?"

So I walk her thru the list of sockeye terminal gear, and she dutifully hand picks the hooks, swivels, leader and split shot that I specify. Once she gets it all home I text her some links to some knot tying videos for the egg loop and the Pitzen knot. After watching each of them once thru, she calls me back and I walk her thru the basic rigging, then tell her, "OK... ready to start tying?"

So she's tying away as I'm coaching her from my cell phone to lend some tying tips to facilitate the process. Before you know it, she confidently declares, "OK.... DONE!"

Serially?

"How's it look?" I ask skeptically.

"I'll text you a picture," she replies.

Now mind you, this kid's NEVER tied up any fishing gear before... EVER! This is what drops into my phone....

Even I gotta admit... that's one helluva FIRST try.

Almost chokes a guy up... ALMOST.
