Congratulations, Jim. I hope your post does as much for deseminating accurate information about fish conservation as folks occasionally tell me mine has. Salmo g., the former Latin name for steelhead, is the handle I began using 4 years ago on a fishing BB where most posters used a handle instead of their real names. I liked Salmo so well I wouldn't dream of posting with my real name.

As for the Cowlitz confusion, I apologise for an unclear post. "What I meant to say was," having read about the upcoming meeting about the Cowlitz licensing on August 3 (which I wasn't able to attend) reminded me of what one of the guys who tracks fish passage data had told me about fish counts at Cowlitz. So I shared that information thinking it would be of interest to you guys on this BB.

I haven't a clue what you mean about posting contradictory information on other bulletin boards. I have posted on VFS, which is mostly about fly fishing. Let's see, I've posted about using fly reels that don't have disc drags (mine don't), I've got a couple Sage rods along with a bunch of cheap gear, I collect some bamboo, appreciate wild fish, but also fish for hatchery fish. I advocate for fish conservation. It seems you're trying to defame me here. In fairness, could you please back up your allegation with at least one example?

And no, I don't influence the policies at NMFS or any other government agency. I'm not even sure that I would wish to. Well, maybe sometimes I would.

If you believe that what I post on this BB is inappropriate, ask Bob to ban me. I don't claim to be an authority. I share facts and opinions (usually labled as such) that may be of interest to readers here. If you don't care for what I write, don't read it. This is cyber-space. I'm nothing more than electrons on your computer screen. The quality of any information here is its inherent content. Nothing more, nothing less.

Adios,

Salmo g.
