No, I don't think that's what he's saying, but maybe he'll tell us directly. I lived on the N end of the Ave in 69/70. It was cool and had a very inviting vibe. The sidewalks were clean enough to sit on, but I almost never saw anyone doing so. And it was safe enough that I never thought twice about hiking it end to end or going to or from campus any time of day or evening. Heck, there was even a small Nordstrom's store on the SW corner of the Ave then. Can't get safer or more uptown than that. I shopped at the UW bookstore there, and Pay N Save, and got burgers at Herfy's between the Ave and Brooklyn. It was a good college life then.
