Well, I had to tell my youngest daughter Olivia that the river was shut down. She was having a pretty good salmon season thus far, considering the crappy returns. She had two straight trips of a fish on her first cast. It bummed her out. We had fished together several times already this fall and she was really getting into it. All I could think of when I was telling her we were done for the fall is that I hope with all of my heart that she still is into it next year. My 2 other girls have moved away from fishing. They are very fickle.

BUT, my oldest has just started surfing, which is AWESOME. I have attached a video I made last summer of her just learning (riding whitewash). We surfed Maui, Westport and Lapush (but I don't know where the Lapush footage went). She and her friends told me it was some of the most fun they had all year, and so I am pretty pumped about it. Now with our crappy fish runs, I just want to go back to the summer time.
