Whats going on in the "West" today, both socially and economically, in the United States and Western Europe is exactly the same as 1st century Rome was dealing with.

Instead of islamic extremists the Romans had the Germanic Tribes, but the agenda was the same. Rome had the same social problems with protected classes and dependant class, economically they had the same devaluation of currency and debt issues in the 1st century as we have here in the "west" today. Not to mention the same issues with corruption.

The difference is today here in the United States and Europe we have gotten ourselves into this mess in a much shorter time period than the ancient romans did. It took hundreds of years for the Romans to do it and it only took us a couple decades, also the affected population base is much larger and the dynamics of the problem much more complicated, due to a destroyed infrastructure and impaired environment we have now.

So we have tried to fix this problem using the same playbook as the Romans, only I guess we forgot to read how things ended up for the Romans.

Trump is today's Trajan, different era but same set of circumstances. Rome still fell.
