Kev,
You can drift from Schaeffer park down, or just down from the Turnow branch (below the park) at Cook Creek. Cook creek is a rough launch right along the road that parallels the east fork (I'm sure you'll see the rigs parked there). In either case, there's not enough water there now to drift. If you don't feel like dragging all day, look for the water to be around 700 cfs or above.
The satsop came up to around 900 cfs over the weekend but it was filthy. I heard it's still pretty colored now, even though the water's back down below 400 cfs. Not a good sign. I'm sure it's the Turnow branch putting all the color in, and that eliminates most of the water good for boat fishing, and stacks the section between the mouth of the Turnow and the park with boats and bankies. Judging by the numbers of silvers below the mouth of the Satsop on the Chehalis (rolling EVERYWHERE), I'm sure some have shot up the Satsop. Might not be a bad bet to give the Schaeffer park or the S-turns a look.
Ted (grumpyr)can probably tell you some info about the Satsop, as he's fished it with me several times. It was excellent for kings in 97, but hasn't seen great numbers over the past couple years, so I guess it's a wait and see thing.
Good luck
Fish on......
