Yah, the gimbal mounts are springy. I can see the gunwale flexing when using the downriggers. Previous owner didn't have any issues, so what the heck. It could last forever. My preference is for stuff to look and feel robust.

On the angle bracket mounts.... I still have those brackets from my previous boat. Actually my preferred way to mount. On the Grady the bolsters (cushions) are in the way. I could remove them or reupholster, but trying to find the simple solution. Borrowing from other people's experience.
