Rather than add scent to jigs I prefer to tip them with bait when needed. A small chunk of prawn works well. A great knot for tying on jigs is the trilene Knot(I think it's called this) where you go through the eye of the jig twice and then basically tie a improved clinch knot from there going back through both loops at the eye.
