I was filling the tank on my rental car before getting on a plane to return home from San Diego this week and overheard this conversation.

An older gentleman that appeared to work for a utility company (lift truck) was doing his best Cliff Calvin impersonation in explaining what really happened in the Hawaii missle alert mishap to a co-worker.

According to him there was a missle fired, but it was shot down by an Israeli sub that was on patrol in the area.

This was a proven "fact" because the missle alert also supposedly appeared on the TV screen during a basketball game that wasn't connected to the official warning alert network. Meaning the alert was not an accident, it was the real thing.

He said there is now a huge conspiracy to cover up the truth of what really happened.
