Parker's right ... ther is no definative answer. In my boat, as we're usually always on the move, I fish lead and stationary (most of our snags are line wrapped around a boulder, not the lead hung). A good rule of thumb though if you're willing to go through the hassle of carrying everything you need to fish both ways, would be stationary in the pocket water ... sliding in the flatter water. Slinkies vs. lead ... tried slinkies for some time, don't seem to see a big difference in the number of hang-ups where / how we fish. But that's more a matter of personal preference!
