Cook creek is currently closed but should open in a day or two. Stay tuned. little salmon (Salmon River?) is open on rez and should stay that way. I was poking around up there this afternoon. It is perfect for fishing. However, I fished for an hour and only caught a silver and a chinook, both had seen better days and were released. There are a few steelhead around also.

Are guides required on both rivers this year or can you fish one or the other with just a permit?
Thanks!

You must be with a Quinault tribal member on both Cook and Salmon when fishing on reservation.

RANDY,

It will be a slaughter. You might as well start having dreams of that infamous 30+ fish day!

We hooked 15 on the Salmon on Friday. Would have been a *lot* better with more water.

Here's a pic of my wife and I on the deck of guide Robin Rhoades house overlooking the Quinalt.

You'll have a blast!

Sometimes when the lights go out the power to the electric weir is off for a short while and some steelhead go above the hatchery on cook creek. this is off rez but I don't know if it is open. On the salmon there is a small piece of off rez near the west boundary road that is off rez and could be a spot to catch steelhead as many fish travel past the hatchery to spawn upstream.

I don't know if the area off-rez is open but it is above the hatchery and since there has been no power outages yet this winter there shouldn't be any steelhead above the electric weir. In short, all the fish are on rez.

Your right! Joe's birthday today. He spent it trying out his new line of rods. Looks like they work pretty good.
